In December of 2004 my friend Kathie went to a conference in South Africa. After the conference she went on safari for a few days and loved it. Determined she should return, she asked if I wanted to go with her (mainly, I think, to avoid the single supplement). She also decided that a decent camera was essential so bought a Canon 20D. Thinking that was a good idea, I bought the same camera and the 70-300 DO lens. Thus was I introduced to two of my main loves in life - Africa and photography.
We visited Moremi in The Okavango Delta, Savuti, Chobe and Livingstone (in Zambia). I was amazed at how much wildlife there was and how easy it was to get quite close to it. The whole experience was one of the most intense in my life and, on return, I was determined that this would not be my last trip to sub-saharan Africa
